Wednesday ankles
the terrors of midtown
images of broken princesses
these stories are all over the TV
she said something
something no one will remember
the DVR isn't there to save this

and MTV is dying
no music, no applause
no redeeming value
brain dead, brain dead
a whole generation raised on empty
acceptance is another word for defeat
for some reason there's no judgment

years pass regardless
the nature of the Earth
points on different planes
plots on different maps
movies, books, and songs
and we all just sing along

all the tall tales
written on blinds
in insane asylums
curious creatures follow
the crisp clean smell of Autumn
those unnamed
best of all untamed
and isn't it pretty to think so
I don't know

we call it cripple
we call it cursed
we used to know
which one is worse
all outrage and silence
where is the charity
in the smile
in the careless acts of gravity

chants and cheers

more of the same

a watchtower
the spirit is going to sell
you say what you're going to say
all the right schools of thoughts
they've got nothing on you
the better class of losers
so much guilt prophesy
one life built to cleanse sins
there's no messiah here
just empty words

all the people are fooled
you took them to your wing
and you told them pretty lies
but you held your wolf in disguise
and the Lord wills for this to happen
it's make the faithful cry out
a new kind of evil
disguised as a new kind of truth

there's gotta be a summer
in the middle of the season
lost in all the attractions
a mire myth...
more about that later

laughter
blue eyes
the connection between two
more like one
there tribes, books, and scribes
in one glance it's all settled
in one kiss it's all settled
more about that later

there are no easy streets
I'm not trying
there's no motions
no predefined drill
a heart complete and hope revealed

time will tell

road signs litter the side of the highway
as if by some regret it's overpopulation
and thoughts are coming in from all directions
focusing can be the most difficult thing

I'm sorry, I wasn't listening
by my very nature I'm impressed
it's just
there's so many things on my mind
and if I had to narrow it down
to just one thing
Lord it can't get any simpler than that

life comes down, to just one path
last year's hope, last night's laugh
some many lives, how they've passed
so much time, goes so fast

if I'm able to stop
tonight just for a moment
collect these thoughts
just for a moment
a single note
a fire on the edge of the horizon
the simplicity is perfect
what is real and what is far away
love is the knowledge of truth
and the discovery of hope

two cats are in my backyard
waiting on their next meal
while the whole world watches
trying to find faith to feel
I wish I could say something
to make everything right
and I know it's never that simple
but Lord I wonder tonight
if it will ever happen
perhaps potential is just childlike ambition
and acceptance is an avenue of wisdom
time will tell

two nights away

can you see this puzzle
can you see the stars
I can feel the fragments
even in the dark

how much have I noticed
how much have I seen
all of these questions mean everything
when you're not here
I find solace in the world that I don't know

can you see the beauty
can you see the light
I can hear the riddles
coming through tonight

how much have I suffered
how much have I dreamed
all of these questions mean everything
when you're not here
I find solace in the world that I don't know

even now I hear your voice
so far away
dear Erin know, we won't let go...
this I pray (repeat)

in essence

no one had a lot to say
at the evening's last question
I wonder how many happy smiles
will amount to anything in the end
there's a larger matter on my mind
but I can't hold on close enough
this time it doesn't really matter
nothing can take this away
in this life love has overcome

tonight the night is unbalanced
I'll be waking up so long after you've started
but somewhere in France you're dreaming
and I hope it's me

isn't this just like love
no word can contain
every part of the world
contains something about you
and when you're not here to share it with
I don't know what to
if there's some piece of wisdom
maybe a word of advice
I'd gladly accept any kind of encouragement
because I've seen this turn before
and I never want to feel it again
all of my dreams are full of your light
so beautiful, it fills up my heart tonight
I'm counting down the days now
I wish I could see you tomorrow

this aspect is fading now
this part of me fails
