time will tell
road signs litter the side of the highway
as if by some regret it's overpopulation
and thoughts are coming in from all directions
focusing can be the most difficult thing
I'm sorry, I wasn't listening
by my very nature I'm impressed
it's just
there's so many things on my mind
and if I had to narrow it down
to just one thing
Lord it can't get any simpler than that
life comes down, to just one path
last year's hope, last night's laugh
some many lives, how they've passed
so much time, goes so fast
if I'm able to stop
tonight just for a moment
collect these thoughts
just for a moment
a single note
a fire on the edge of the horizon
the simplicity is perfect
what is real and what is far away
love is the knowledge of truth
and the discovery of hope
two cats are in my backyard
waiting on their next meal
while the whole world watches
trying to find faith to feel
I wish I could say something
to make everything right
and I know it's never that simple
but Lord I wonder tonight
if it will ever happen
perhaps potential is just childlike ambition
and acceptance is an avenue of wisdom
time will tell
