night watch
paint me Rembrandt
in vivid color
leave me dark
keep the light on different subjects
just let me blend in
there's no harm in never knowing
if she sees me, she'll run
if she sees me, she'll forget
and I can't bear to let it happen

often the same could be said of swans
as they fly in formation
we've wandered off course
love's little rejected promise
if foresight could have let me break it off
I wouldn't have had the will to cut ties
as if loyalty stood before my better judgment
